Hi card making friends, and happy hump day. My card share today is Hero Arts Looking Glass Hot Air Balloons. These looking glass dies are so fun to create with. They are three part. You cut them out and stack them for the full looking glass image. They are super easy to create with and you can color the images, paint them, ink blend them for some fabulous results. Hero Arts has quite a collection of Looking Glass die sets here.

I decided on playing with the air balloons because I love them. I used to crew for an air balloon owner and was also on the Air Balloon committee for the winter carnival in Vernon B.C. many years ago. Going up in an air balloon is not only exciting, it is also very calming and majestic. Flights are usually early morning when the winds are calm, the sun is just coming up. it’s quiet up there except when the burner is on, and you literally, float with the breeze. So that’s my inspiration for today’s card. The back panel is the ink blended sky, the clouds are different hues of purple and blue and I have been up in a rainbow colored air balloon. I’ve even been up in a Champaign bottle shaped air balloon. Ok, enough about my life adventures, lets get on to the card. LOL
How to create the Looking Glass Hot Air Balloons Card:
Start by cutting three panels of white 4-1/4 x 5-1/2
Place the first Looking Glass Hot Air Balloons die on one of the panels, slightly higher than center and die cut it out.
Next, use that die cut, and make slight pencil marks on the edges of the next panel to help line up the die.
Finally, die cut the second and third panels.
Coloring the images:
Use Copic Markers to color the balloons
Next, on the front panel with the large balloon, use a blending brush to add Pool Party ink to the clouds
For the middle panel use a combo of Splash and Thistle ink on the clouds
Finally, for the third panel, color the balloon with copics and ink blend the clouds with thistle. The farther the clouds are away, the darker they are.
Place the front panel into the Misti and stamp the sentiment from the Dream Messages stamp set.
NOTE: I stamped Happy Birthday on the inside using the Hello there Stamp & Cut Set.
Creating the background for the Looking Glass Hot Air Balloons card:
Take one of the die cut panels and lay it over the top folding A2 card base.
Use a pencil to lightly mark the edges of the die cut.
Next, remove the panel and use blending brushes to add Taffy, Lemon Drop and Splash Inks to the card base to create the morning sky.
Finally, gently erase the pencil marks with an eraser
Glue the panels together and then glue them to the card base.
