Hey cardmaking friends! I’m back tonight with another Easy Spotlight Technique featuring the Curvy Blossom Embossing Folder from Simon Says Stamp. As you can probably tell, I am quite smitten with this folder and just wanted to give it a little more love. This month has definitely turned into an embossing folder extravaganza, LOL! Thank you so much for all your kind comments and for watching my videos. I truly appreciate your support.
So, without further ado, here’s a short tutorial for this quick and easy technique that’s absolutely gorgeous. Instead of coloring the embossed image, we’re creating the spotlight with simple ink blending, making it perfect for those days when you want a stunning card without reaching for your markers!

Products used for the Spotlight Technique with Embossing Folders:
- Curvy Blossom Embossing Folder
- Basic Shapes Circles Dies
- Reverse Birthday EZ Strips
- Ink Pads: Amethyst, Rose, Zest

How to create the Spotlight Technique with Embossing Folders:

Start with a quarter panel of Hammermill White cardstock and ink blend the center with Amethyst, Rose, and Zest ink.
Use a circle die to cut out your favorite section, and then emboss it with the Curvy Blossom Embossing folder.

Trim another panel of white cardstock to 4″ x 5-1/4″ and emboss it with the Curvy Blossom Embossing folder.
Cut a black mat measuring 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. Before attaching it to the white A2 sized card base, cut a circle from it for the mat behind the colored embossed circle (I used one size up in the dies). Attach the black mat to the card base, then attach the embossed panel.
Glue the ink-blended embossed circle to the black circle mat, then attach it over the embossed panel, carefully lining up the embossed design so it seamlessly matches the background embossing.
Finish the card with a sentiment from the Reverse Birthday EZ Strips and a few Clear Dazzling Gems for a touch of sparkle.

If you would prefer to color the spotlight, I have this tutorial using the Crocus Field Embossing Folder.
