Happy 4th. Hi card makers, welcome back to the blog! I’m thrilled to join the Alex Syberia Designs team for an exciting Instagram hop today. I’m featuring my Alex Syberia Designs Dramatic Sunflower Card, created with the stunning Summer Flower Press Plate and plenty of vibrant Copic coloring—about two hours of it, to be exact!

This press plate both presses and glimmer foils a gorgeous huge sunflower that truly lives up to its dramatic name. I see endless creative possibilities with this design. For today’s card, I cranked up the music, relaxed, and immersed myself in the coloring process. It felt so good to unwind while bringing this bold sunflower to life, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

How to create the Alex Syberia Designs Dramatic Sunflower Card:

Start with a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of white Hammermill cardstock and ink up the Summer Floral Press Plate using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, which is copic friendly.

Next, grab your Copic markers and color the sunflower with rich hues of orange, yellow, and brown, adding highlights, shadows, and details bringing each petal to life.

Then, cut an A2-sized white card base measuring 4.25″ x 11″, then score and fold it at 5.5″.

Next, attach a 4.25″ x 5.5″ black cardstock panel to the front of the card base, then adhere your colored sunflower panel on top for a bold, dramatic look.

Finish your handmade sunflower card with a Glimmer Foiled gold and black sentiment for a touch of shine and an elegant final detail.
