Berry Best Strawberry Card

Hi card-making friends – welcome back!  Today I’m sharing a bright and juicy handmade card featuring the Berry Best Strawberry Stamp and Die Set by Simon Hurley for Spellbinders.  This fun and realistic die set makes the cutest chocolate-covered strawberries and is perfect for creating Valentine’s Day Cards, love cards, or sweet handmade greetings for any occasion.

I love making square handmade cards, and after die-cutting a whole bushel of strawberries, I knew they would be the perfect focal point for a 5″ square card base.  I added a few layered cardstock mats to frame the design and add extra visual interest.  You’ll find all of the measurements and step-by-step details below so you can easily recreate this strawberry-themed card yourself.

How to create the Berry Best Strawberry Card

Start by cutting the cardstock for the base and layered panels, then adhere them to the front of the card base.

  • Card Base:  5″ x 10″ white cardstock, scored and folded at 5″
  • Mat Layer:  4-3/4″ square – Cranberry cardstock
  • Mat Layer: 4-5/8″ Square – Rainforest cardstock
  • Card Front Panel:  4-3/8″ square – white cardstock

Next, die cut the strawberries from two shades of red cardstock to add depth and contrast.  Die cut the leaves and chocolate layers, then glue them onto the strawberries as overlays.  For added detail, die cut the icing drizzle from white cardstock and adhere it to four of the berries.

Place the card front inside a Misti stamping tool and dry fit the strawberries around the center to determine the best placement for the sentiment.  Stamp the sentiment using VersaFine Clair – Nocturne ink.

Finally, use foam squares to attach the strawberries around the sentiment, adding dimension to the design.  Finish the card with a light sprinkling of Red Color Essential Gems for a touch of sparkle.
