Peacock Love Valentine Card

Hi crafty friends – welcome back!  Today I have another Valentine card to share, created with the absolutely adorable Sweet Peacock stamp and die set from the Simon Says Stamp Heart to Heart release.  I shared a similar card a couple of weeks ago here, but these sweet little peacocks – and my Copics – have been sitting on my desk calling my name, so I couldn’t resist coloring them up again.

For today’s card, I also added the Stitched Basic Hearts die set to create the pretty stitched heart inlay around each die-cut heart.  To carry that stitched theme throughout the design, I finished the card front with the Stitched Rectangle Wafer Die set, which adds a subtle stitched border to the edges.

How to create the Peacock Love Valentine Card:

Start with a top-folding A2-Sized white card base.

Next, trim a panel Audrey Blue cardstock to  4-1/4″ x 5-1/2.  Use the Stitched Basic Hearts die set to cut three stitched heart openings from the panel.  Then, use the largest Stitched Rectangle Wafer Die to cut the outer edge of the panel, adding matching stitched detail around the perimeter.

Adhere a Lavender cardstock panel behind the heart openings, then attach the layered panel to the card base.

Stamp the peacocks using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (Copic – friendly) then color the images with Copic markers in the following shades:

  • Blue:  BG01, BG02, BG05, BG07
  • Purple:  V12, V15, V17
  • Green:  YG01, G14

Once the coloring is completely dry, add highlights using a #10 Sakura White Gel Pen.

Die cut the peacocks and attach them over each heart opening using small pieces of foam tape for dimension.

Place the panel into a Misti to precisely line up and stamp the sentiment.

Finally, use the smallest stitched heart die and the small heart from the Basic Hearts die set to cut additional Lavender hearts and scatter them across the card front for extra detail and interest.

This Peacock Love Valentine card came together quickly and is perfect for showcasing stamped and colored images with a touch of stitched detail.  It’s a fun design you can easily recreate with different colors and sentiments.
