Bibi’s Musical Notes Handmade Cards

Hey cardmaking friends!  Today I’m sharing some handmade musical cards featuring the new Spellbinders Bibi’s Musical Notes Collection. My sweet and incredibly talented friend Bibi has done it again with another fabulous release – this time celebrating all things music.  These musical dies are easy to cut, fun to layer, and perfect for creating the playful swirly center when the card opens.

For my first two designs, I kept the look clean and simple, and then, in true Bibi fashion, I couldn’t resist making my third card a peek-a-boo style card, a technique she’s known for and always executes so beautifully.

Bibi’s Musical Notes Handmade Cards #1

Start by cutting a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ black cardstock panel and attaching it to a top folding A2-sized white card base for a bold frame.

Next, cut a  4″ x 5-1/4″ white panel and emboss it with the Musical Notes Embossing Folder to add beautiful texture and dimension.

Then, die cut the music bars from black cardstock and adhere them across the center of the card, trimming off any excess before attaching the panel to the card base.

Finally, die cut the guitar pieces, assemble them, and attach the guitar to the right side of the card with foam squares for added dimension.

Finish the design by scattering a few die-cut musical notes and a treble clef, creating a fun, music-inspired handmade card perfect for any occasion.

Bibi’s Musical Notes Handmade Cards #2

Lately I’ve been loving coloring blocking, repetitive die cuts, and clean and simple card designs – and this handmade card brings all of those favorites together.

Start with a top-folding A2 sized white card base cut 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, score and fold at 4-1/4″.

Next, cut a black cardstock panel 4″ x 5-1/4″ and glue the die-cut white music bars across it, trimming any overhang for a clean finish.

For the focal point, die cut four colorful saxophones in bold shades of red, yellow, teal and pink.  Add gold highlights for extra shine and layer the instruments over the striking black background.

This music-themed handmade card is bright, modern, and perfect for anyone who loves jazz, color and a touch of playful design!

Bibi’s Musical Notes Handmade Cards – The Peek-a-Boo card:

Bibi is truly he master at these peek-a-boo cards,  so I hope I’ve done her justice with this fun, music-themed handmade card created with the Spellbinders Bibi’s Musical Notes Collection.

I started by creating the piano keyboard border along the bottom of the card.  Since the die isn’t quite long enough, I cut it twice and fussy cut the pieces to extend the length of the keys.  This strip is mounted to a 1-1/2″ x 4″ white cardstock panel.  I cut off the bottom front of a black A2-sized card base at 1-3/4″ x 4-1/4″ and attached the keyboard panel to it.  Set this aside while you work on the top portion.

Next, from the fold in the top of the black card base, cut the top front panel to 2-3/4″ long.  Next,  cut a white panel 2-1/2″ x 4″, emboss it with the Music Notes Embossing Folder and attach it to the card top.

For the focal point, die cut each of the gold musical instruments (saxophone, violin, and trumpet) twice for extra sturdiness.  Layer them together and add the black detail die cuts for contrast and dimension.

To finish, lay the card base flat with the keyboard at the bottom and carefully glue each instrument in place with white liquid adhesive.  The result is a bold and elegant peek-a-boo card design that music lovers will adore.

  1. All I can say is Wow, Wow, Wow! Having taught piano for years and having guitar players in the family, I love this new set. Your Peek-a-Boo card is delightful and so creative on extending the keyboard. This is truly a unique set that fills a gap in what has been available.

      1. Didn’t know you played as well! Another way to keep my brain engaged! I still take lessons as well, although I no longer teach other than grandchildren.
