Classic Mouse Love Etched Dies

Hi card-making friends!  Spellbinders has a bunch of BRAND NEW RELEASES, and today I’m playing with one of my absolute favorites – the Spellbinders & Simple Stories Classic Mouse Love Etched Dies.  This sweet new addition to the Say Cheese Classic Mouse Collection includes a coordinating die set and two new BetterPress/Glimmer Sentiment Sets.  They are designed to mix, match and layer for the most adorable Valentine’s projects.

For today’s cards, I paired my two all-time favorite Valentine’s colors – teal and hot pink.  This playful, high-contrast combo makes me smile every time, and when it’s layered with all the crisp black and white elements in these designs, it really makes the colors pop off the page.  The result is bold, cheerful, and plain fun – exactly the kind of happy, love-filled vibe I want for my Valentine’s cards.

andmade Valentine’s card featuring two classic cartoon mice die-cut from black, white, and teal cardstock, facing each other and forming a heart with their hands over a large teal heart. The male mouse holds a pink rose while the female mouse wears a pink skirt and bow. Above them is a die-cut sentiment reading “You Are My Happily Ever After.” The card is styled on a turquoise background with greenery and heart-shaped chocolates, created with the Spellbinders Steamboat Willie Duo and Classic Mouse Love Etched Dies.

Two handmade Valentine’s cards featuring classic cartoon mouse die-cuts from the Spellbinders Classic Mouse Love Etched Dies. One card shows the mice holding hands in front of a large teal heart with the sentiment “You Are My Happily Ever After,” while the other features a single mouse peeking through a heart window with the sentiment “You’ve Stolen My Heart.” Both cards use teal, hot pink, black, and white cardstock and are styled on a turquoise background with greenery and heart-shaped chocolates.

My favorite detail in this new die set is the two sets of mouse arms – when you attach them and bring them together, they form a tiny heart shape.  It’s such a clever design and adds the sweetest touch to these love-themed cards.

How to create Classic Mouse Love Etched Dies – Card #1

Start with a top-folding white card base.  Die-cut a teal heart using the Nested Hearts dies and adhere it to the center of the card front.

Next, die-cut the two mice from their coordinating cardstock colors and assemble all of the layered pieces.

Finally, use foam squares to attach the mice to the card front, carefully positioning their arms so the hands meet and form a sweet heart shape in the center.  Use black ink to BetterPress the Classic Mouse Happy Sentiments, die-cut them with the coordinating die and use one at the top of the card.

The mouse stands inside a white arched window set against a black background with colorful star patterns. A sentiment below reads “You’ve Stolen My Heart.” The card is styled on a turquoise background with greenery and heart-shaped chocolates, with a Spellbinders “Project by Sandi MacIver” watermark.

How to create the Classic Mouse Love Etched Dies – Card #2

Start with a top-folding white A2 card base.  Adhere a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of patterned paper to the front – I used Doodlebugs Hey Pumpkin 6 x 6 paper for a fun, colorful backdrop.

Next, die-cut a white arch using the Essential Arches dies and attach it to the center of the card front with foam tape for added dimension.

Then, die-cut all the pieces needed to create the female classic mouse, then assemble the layers and attach her to the center of the arch using foam squares.

Finally, BetterPress the Classic Mouse Love Sentiments in black ink onto white cardstock. (They’re all on one plate).  Die-cut them out with the coordinating die, then add one to the card to complete your design.

I hope these sweet Classic Mouse Valentine cards have inspired you to play with this adorable new die collection.  The mix of bold colors, playful characters, and clever interactive details makes these dies so much fun to create with.
