Lindy’s Magical Powders:  Tibetan Poppy Teal and Banff Blue

A handmade winter birthday card with a teal, blue, and green watercolor-style background created using Lindy’s Magical Powders and the Simon Says Stamp Wonderland Snowflakes embossing folder. White snowflake designs are embossed across the panel, and a layered “Happy Birthday” sentiment in white cardstock and vellum sits in the center, giving the card a soft, snowy, elegant look.

How to create the Simon Says Stamp Winter Birthday Card:

1 – Create the Watercolor Card Front

Cut a piece of watercolor paper to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and place it on a protected work surface.  Liberally spritz both sides with water – this helps the paper to relax and lay flat.

Next, using a fan brush, sprinkle Lindy’s Magical powders randomly across the surface.  Spritz again with water to dissolve the pigment and allow the colors to flow.  Tilt and turn the panel to guide the color into any bare areas until you’re happy with the blend.

Lay it on a paper towel to dry completely.

2 – Dry Emboss and Heat Emboss the Snowflakes

Once the panel fully dry, lightly spritz the back only with water.  Place it inside the Wonderland Snowflakes Embossing Folder and run it through your die-cutting machine a couple of times to achieve a deep, detailed impression.

Use a heat tool to dry the piece, then lay it flat on your work surface.  Gently swipe a VersaMark Ink Pad across the raised snowflake design.  Cover with white embossing powder, tap off the excess, and heat-set.

PRO-TIPS:

Lightly wetting the back of the panel allows the fibers to stretch instead of cracking will embossing.

Keep the panel as flat as possible when applying VersaMark.  If stray embossing powder sticks where you don’t want it, flick it away with a small dry paintbrush.

Once finished, adhere the panel to a top-folding A2-sized white card base.

3 – Add the Sentiment

Die cut the Happy Birthday sentiment from White cardstock and vellum.  Layer them together and adhere with white liquid glue.

PRO-TIP:
Apply glue only behind the white die cut – adhesive will show through vellum.

If you’d like, you can add gems for extra sparkle.  I skipped them here because the mica in Lindy’s Magicals already adds a beautiful shimmer to the background.

I appreciate you stopping by, and now it’s time to hop along to the next stop on the hop –  Cathy.  If you get lost along the way, here is the entire list for you.
