I LOVE embossing folders – don’t you? They are so quick and easy to use, and this new one from Simon Says Stamp’s latest release, Fresh Sprigs, has a beautiful design that is super easy to color. Then I used the Blackout Technique in Sage Green (Or the Ink-swiping technique – whichever you call it) to highlight the design and embellish it with a beautiful die-cut butterfly.

How to create the Simon Says Stamp Fresh Sprigs Embossing Folder Card:
Start with a Hammermill white piece of cardstock 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. Spritz both sides with water, then place inside the embossing folder and emboss.
Next, once the paper is dry, turn it over to the indented side and color the image with copic markers.
Copic Markers Used:
- Yellow: YR31, Yr24, YR27
- Pinks: R32, R22, E93
- Greens: G21, G24
- Brown: E44
NOTE: This small image is super fast and easy to color, and it also works with colored pencils, Karin markers, etc.
Do the Blackout Technique:
Lay the piece flat on a protected surface and drag the Sage Ink pad down the piece three times to cover the entire background of the art piece. This will also highlight the raised parts of the flowers and leaves.
Next, attach to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. Place inside a splat box, and splatter with white and gold paint.
While the paint is drying, cut out the butterfly and color it with the same Copic markers. Glue it together and attach it to the top left side of the card.
Use the EZ Strips Reverse Sister sheets, choose a sentiment, and cut it out. Color the edges with a black marker before attaching them to the card.
Finally, embellish with some Gold Pawsitively Dazzling Gems.
