Happy Spring by Simon Hurley

Hey cardmaking friends – welcome back!  Today I’m sharing two new greeting cards created with the Happy Spring By Simon Hurley release.  This collection is bursting with fun eggs, sweet bunnies, and plenty of greenery to build cheerful spring scenes.  The bunnies are absolutely adorable, and the coordinating foliage makes it easy to design fresh, happy cards.

I’m especially in love with the IN BLOOM Egg die set – it creates the coolest statement cards!  Using the inlay technique, you can customize your eggs in any color combination you like, quickly and effortlessly.

Three handmade Easter and spring cards created with the Spellbinders Happy Spring by Simon Hurley release. The first card features a white bunny inside a teal arched frame on a colorful embossed egg background. The center card is egg-shaped with teal flowers, leafy vines, and a “Happy Spring” sentiment across the middle. The third card showcases a white bunny on a soft ink-blended blue background with grass, flowers, and a “Happy Easter” sentiment at the bottom.

Handmade Easter card featuring a white die-cut bunny holding a purple flower, standing in grass with bright red and purple flowers inside a teal arched frame. The background is covered in colorful embossed Easter eggs in pink, yellow, teal, and purple. Styled with spring greenery and decorative pastel eggs around the card.

How to create the Happy Spring by Simon Hurley Card #1

Start with a top-folding A2-sized white card base.

Next, cut a white panel 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and emboss it with the Ornate Eggs Embossing Folder.  Place the panel on a protected work surface and use the Layered Ornate Eggs Stencils to color the eggs.

Ink Used:  Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated inks:

Lilac, Sunbeam, Rose, and Surf

Once the ink blending is complete, adhere the embossed panel tot he card base.

Die cut two Essential Arches, one in Waterfall cardstock and one in White cardstock.  Layer them together and attach them to the center of the card front using foam tape for dimension.

Finally, die cut the bunny, flowers and greenery.  Assemble the pieces and adhere them to the arched panel to complete the scene.

Egg-shaped handmade spring card featuring an inlaid floral design with teal flowers and bright green leafy vines on a white background. A layered teal “Happy Spring” sentiment banner runs across the center. Styled with spring greenery and pastel decorative eggs in yellow, pink, and teal around the card.

How to create the Happy Spring by Simon Hurley Card #2

Use the outline egg die to cut two white eggs.  Then, cut a third egg using both the outline and detailed dies together to create the inlay panel.  Die cut a solid egg from Altenew Double-Sided Adhesive Sheets, remove the release paper from one side, and adhere it to the back of the detailed white egg panel to create a sticky base for the inlay pieces.

Next, die cut the detailed inner egg design from Rainforest and Waterfall cardstock.  Inlay the colored pieces into the adhesive -backed egg panel, pressing them firmly into place.  Once complete, remove the release paper from the back of the inlaid egg and attach it to the white egg outline to create the card front.

Create the sentiment using the Bunny Buddies die set, cutting the layered greeting from Waterfall and white cardstock.  Adhere the layers together and attach the sentiment across the center of the egg.

TO finish, score a line approximately 1 inch down from the top of the second white egg panel.  Add red line tape above the score line and adhere it tot he back of the inlaid egg panel to create a top-folding egg-shaped card.

The background is softly ink blended in teal and aqua tones, framed with a white mat, and finished with a pink embossed “Happy Easter” sentiment banner. Decorative spring greenery and pastel speckled eggs surround the card in the styled photo.
