Hey cardmaking friends!  I hope you had a wonderful holiday and are enjoying a little creative downtime.  Yesterday I finally had a chance to sit down and play with the Simon Says Stamp Birdies Die Set along with the new Birdies Winter Accessories Dies – the cutest coordinating add-on for creating winter cards and handmade birthday cards.  You might remember these adorable little die-cut birdies from the recent release, and now they have cozy winter hats, scarves, and holiday accessories to keep them bundled up for the season.  I love creating winter birthday cards with snowflakes, snowmen, and now sweet little winter bird designs, and today’s project is full of frosty fun.  It’s currently -22°C here, so I probably should have added the darling little scarves too – these chilly birdies could definitely use them, haha!

How to create the Happy Winter Birthday with Simon Says Stamp Birdies Dies Card:

1 – Create the card base:

Start by creating your A2-sized handmade card base using the Simon Says Stamp A2 Arches Dies.  Die-cut layered panels from Seaside, Waterfall, and Teal Topaz cardstock to build a beautiful winter-inspired background.

Before adhering the layers, emboss the front panel with the Dazzle Snowflakes Embossing Folder to add gorgeous winter texture and dimension.

To form the card base, die-cut two Teal Topaz Panels using the second-largest arch die.  Score one panel about 1/2″ down from the top and apply reline tape along the scored section to attach the second panel.  This creates a sturdy arched top-fold card base with a professional finish.

2 – Create the Die-Cut Birds:

Use the Simon Says Stamp Birdies Die Set to cut two 9or more!) adorable die-cut birds.  Then embellish them with cozy hats and scarves from the Birdies Winter Accessories Dies to add that sweet winter birthday card vibe.

For the perch, die-cut an evergreen branch using the Pointy Pine Sprigs Dies – perfect for layering and creating natural winter greenery on your handmade winter card.

3 – Assemble the Winter Birthday Card:

 

Use liquid glue to attach the evergreen branch to the right side of the card front.  Then add foam squares to the back of the die-cut birds and adhere them to the branch.  I positioned my two birdies facing each other so they look like they’re sharing birthday wishes – so cute!

Trim a sentiment from the Reverse Just Saying EZ Strips and pop it up with foam adhesive for added dimension.

Finish the card with a sprinkle of Clear Pawsitively Dazzling Gems for just the right amount of sparkle and birthday bling.  These details really complete the frosty, winter-themed design.
