NEW VIDEO – Layered Pond Lily Card with Ocean Window Dies

Hey cardmaking friends!

I have a New Cardmaking video to share with you today featuring some fabulous products from Altenew’s June release.  I absolutely loved this release, and Altenew was kind enough to send me the Pond Lilies Layering Die Set to play with.  Of course, once I saw the entire release, I had to have almost all of it – although somehow, I forgot to order the sentiment set! LOL.

For today’s card, I’m combining the Pond Lilies Layering Die Set with the very cool Ocean Window Die Set.  You’re going to love the way these layered dies create a beautiful pond scene with so much depth and dimension.  If you wanted to take it even further, you could add foam tape between the layers to create a fun diorama-style effect.  I didn’t do that on today’s card, but it’s definitely on my list for the next one!

So, grab a coffee, sit back, and enjoy the video as I share how this layered pond lily card came together using these gorgeous new products.

How to create the Layered Pond Lily Card:

I’m not going to go into a lot of detail here since the video walks you through the process step- by- step, but here are a few additional tips to help you recreate this card.
All cardstock panels used area cut to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″.  The card base is 4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2 (A2 sized).

Handmade layered pond lily card featuring a dimensional blue and aqua pond scene created with stacked die-cut layers. Two pink water lilies with yellow centers rest among green lily pads, with a bold black-and-white "hello" sentiment across the center. The card is displayed on a turquoise background surrounded by additional lily pads and leafy greenery.

The pond is made up of four layers:  White, Seaside, Waterfall, and a final white layer ink blended with Ocean Wave and Dusk inks to crate the deepest section of the water.
The flowers were die cut from white cardstock and ink blended with Rose Quartz and Puffy Heart inks.  The flower centers were cut from Beeswax cardstock, with the center detail ink blended using Maple Yellow ink.  The lily pads were cut from Peridot cardstock and ink blended with Grass Field and Lagoon inks for added depth and dimension.

TO give the flowers and leaves a more realistic look, I shaped the petals and leaf edges using the Petal Shaper Tool Set, gently curling the tips upwards.

The card is displayed with Altenew ink pads, blending brushes, and coordinating lily pad dies on a turquoise background.

For a touch of sparkle and to enhance the water effect, I added Crystal Stickles (or Shimmer Relief Paste) to the bottom pond layer.  In hindsight, I would recommend adding the shimmer before assembling the pond layers, as it would be much easier to apply, LOL.
