Simon Says Stamp Inlaid Bubble Flower Card

Today I’m playing with four more products from the recent You Are My Favorite Release from Simon Says Stamp.  I thought that combining these bold design elements would create a striking handmade card.  What started the process was the new Receding Squares stencil.  You stencil, then turn the stencil to add additional elements, creating different block designs.  For mine today, I only turned it once to add the second color, and used light ink at the top and darker ink at the bottom for a bit of a gradient effect.

How to create the Simon Says Stamp Inlaid Bubble Flower Card.

Start with a side-folding A-2-sized white card base.  5-1/4″ x 8-1/2″ score and fold at 4-1/4″.

Attach to that a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Audrey Blue.

Next, cut a piece of white cardstock 4″ x 5-1/4″, secure it to a sticky mat, and stencil it with the Receding Squares and the above-noted inks. Attach this to the card front.

Creating the Art Piece.

Start with the New Squovals Dies (I love the shape of these). I used the fifth from the outside to cut a piece of Audrey Blue cardstock.

Next, die-cut the Bubble Flower and Leaves from the center of the blue piece and from Green Apple and White.

Then, place scotch tape across the back of the Audrey Blue piece for ease of inlaying.

Ink blend the center of the white flower with Seafoam ink before inlaying it, the green center before adding it, and the inside of each leaf before adding it.

PRO-TIP – Adding the ink blending adds shadow and detail without much extra work or bulk, making your card more interesting.

Add the art piece to the center of the card using foam squares to pop it up for more detail and depth.

Cut a sentiment from the cards, color the edges with a black marker, and then attach it with more foam squares to the bottom left of the art piece.
