Spellbinders Birthday Bear Card

Hey cardmaking friends – welcome back!  Today I’m sharing a Spellbinders Birthday Bear card that’s guaranteed to make you smile.  This adorable die set is part of a brand-new Simon Hurley Sending Hugs release at Spellbinders, featuring a whole collection of fun, personality-packed animal dies.

You might recognize these sweet critters from Simon’s stamp sets release a few years ago, and now they’ve been reimagined as standalone die sets – perfect for quick, colorful projects. They’re incredibly easy to work with and ideal for creating cheerful, party-themed cards that work for any age, from kids to the young-at-heart.

How to create the Spellbinders Birthday Bear Card:

Start with a top-folding A2 sized white card base.  Cut a piece of Waterfall cardstock 4″ x 5-1/4″ and emboss it with the Puffy Hearts Embossing Folder.  To add extra dimension, use the Layered Puffy Hearts Stencil and Seafoam ink to softly ink-blend over the hearts, making them pop against the background.

Die cut the Postage Photo Frame die from the Jan/2026 Large Die of the Month Club using black cardstock.  Adhere the embossed heart panel behind the frame, then attach the assembled piece to the card base.

Next, die cut the bear, parcel and sentiment.  Assemble the layered pieces, then adhere the bear inside the photo frame.  Finish by adding the layered sentiment along the bottom of the frame.

PRO-TIP – This design would also make an adorable shaker card – Just add acetate and fill it with festive confetti for extra birthday fun.
