Hi cardmaking friends – welcome back! Today I’m playing with Simon Hurley’s new Spooktacular release and sharing two Spellbinders Boo Crew Halloween cards. I’m leaning into non-traditional Halloween colors – pinks, oranges, teals and lime green – and these well-designed die sets make the die-cutting a joy. Let’s dive into the step-by-step details so you can create these cards too.

For today’s backgrounds I used my BetterPress with black and the Spiderweb Background Plate. Although it’s an older design, it’s the perfect addition to my spooky greetings. Simon also included a coordinating embossing folder in this release, which I’ve linked below in the product descrition.

How to create the Spellbinders Boo Crew Halloween Cards – Card #1
Start with a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Waterfall cardstock attached to the top of the BetterPress. Ink the Spiderweb plate with black ink, position the top over it and run it through the Platinum 6 to transfer the design. Attach this panel to the front of a top-folding A2-sized white card base.
Next, die cut all the pieces needed to create the cat, the witch hat, the pumpkin buckets, and the sentiments
TIP#1: Before assembling, Ink blend the pink hat with Festive Berries Distress Oxide Ink to add shadow and depth.
TIP #2. The hat is made from two pieces – the smaller bottom piece goes behind the cat’s ears, while the top piece sits in front, so the ears peek through naturally.
Once all the elements are assembled, adhere them to the center of the card using foam squares to add extra dimension.

How to create the Spellbinders Boo Crew Halloween Cards – Card #2
The first steps are the same as card one, except this time us a piece of Tutu Pink cardstock cut to 3-3/4″ x 5″, layered over a black mat measuring 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″.
Next, die cut all the ghost pieces and assemble them.
TIP: I used Fog cardstock for the little gathered sections at the bottom of the ghosts to add subtle shadow and depth to the images.
Finally, Attach the completed ghosts to the card front with foam squares for extra dimension.
