Spellbinders Little Birdies Christmas

Hey cardmaking friends, welcome back! Today I’m excited to share a cheerful holiday card featuring the Little Birdies Die Set from Spellbinders’ new “All About Christmas” release by Lisa Horton. This August collection is packed with festive dies and stencils that are perfect for your seasonal crafting.

The Little Birdies are hands-down my favorite die set from the release. I paired them with another standout — the Bow and Bell Scallop Frame Die Set. These layering and stacking dies add depth and dimension effortlessly. I especially love the stitched details and the scalloped edge — it adds a beautiful finishing touch with zero extra effort!

The birds wear red Santa hats, and the card is framed with layered stitched and scalloped rectangles in white, red, and aqua. A bold sentiment reading “MERRY CHRISTMAS” is stacked vertically in red and green on the right side of the card.

How to create the Spellbinders Little Birdies Christmas Card:

Start by using the Bow and Bell Scallop Frame Die Set to create the card’s front layers — die-cut the scalloped frame from Waterfall cardstock, the middle rectangle from Poppy Red, and the stitched top panel from white cardstock.

Next, use the Little Birdies Die Set to cut all the bird and branch elements. Assemble the pieces with glue and arrange them on the white stitched panel. There’s even a die for adding snow to the branches — such a sweet detail!

Then, stamp the Merry Sentiments onto Poppy Red and Rainforest cardstock and cut them out using the coordinating dies. Dry fit the sentiments near the bottom of the card to find the perfect placement.

Finally, once you’re happy with the layout, adhere the branches with liquid glue and use foam squares to attach the remaining elements for added dimension.

Finishing Up:

I added foam tape strips to the back of the red panel to give the card some extra dimension, but if you’re creating a batch to mail, you can easily skip this step to keep things flatter.

To make the branches look a bit more festive, I die-cut a variety of red and green leaves and tucked them in among the branches. If you’d like to use this design for a winter birthday card instead, try cutting the leaves from teals or deep greens and switching up the hat colors to match — it’s an easy way to give the card a fresh, non-holiday feel.
