Spellbinders May Clubs | Embossing Summer Card ideas

Hi crafty friends – welcome back!

Today I’m sharing two Spellbinders May Clubs Embossed Summer Cards featuring the gorgeous Embossing Folder Club kits for May.  The monthly embossing folders are always some of my favorite club releases because they create so much texture and detail with very little effort.

If you’ve been here for a while, you already know I’m a HUGE fan of embossing folders, LOL, and this month’s designs definitely did not disappoint.  I combined them with some of the citrus goodness from the Large Die of the Month to create two quick, easy, and festive summer cards filled with bright color and texture.

Let’s jump in and I’ll show you exactly how I made them.

Products used for the Spellbinders May Clubs Embossed Summer Cards:

Two colorful handmade summer cards featuring embossed backgrounds, layered citrus and watermelon die cuts, and festive sentiments created with the Spellbinders May Embossing Folder Clubs and Large Die of the Month.

How to create the Spellbinders May Clubs Embossing Summer Cards:

Create the Card Bases:

For both cards, trim cardstock panels to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″, emboss them using the chosen Spellbinders Embossing Folder, then attach them to white top-folding A2-sized card bases.

For the Poolside Embossing Folder, lightly swipe a white pigment ink pad across the raised surface to create the look of shimmering water and add extra texture and detail.

Die Cut the Art Pieces:

Using the Pop of Summer Large Die of the Month Club Kit,  die cut all the citrus and watermelon pieces from colorful cardstock.  Assemble the die cuts using liquid glue, then arrange and attach them across the card fronts with foam tape for added dimension.

Create the Sentiments:

I’ve been experimenting with tone-on-tone sentiments lately, and I’m really loving the softer look.  Try stamping your sentiment onto cardstock that matches the background using black ink.  It blends into the design more naturally and feels less stark than a traditional black-and-white sentiment strip.

Embellish the Cards:

Finish the cards with a little sparkle and shine.  I added Peridot Color Essentials Gems to the citrus card and Fashion Jet Self-Adhesive Embellishments to the watermelon card for the perfect finishing touch.

These bright and cheerful summer cards came together so quickly thanks to the beautiful texture from the Spellbinders Embossing Clubs and the fun layered die cuts from the Large Die of the Month.  I love how a simple embossed background can instantly elevate a clean and colorful design.  I hope these cards inspire you to mix your embossing folders and die cuts to create your own festive summer cardmaking projects!
