Spring in Kyoto

Today, I have a new release from Spellbinders to share with you.  Alex Syberia of Alex Syberia Designs designed Spring in Kyoto.  This beautiful look at Spring in Kyoto includes a creative selection of products, including a 3/D Floral Fans embossing Folder.  Another intricate background can be created with the Spring in Kyoto Stencil and BetterPress plate covered in Japanese Parasols, which you can ink blend in any color you like.  Add to this, the beautiful Kokeshi Dolls (3), also in a BetterPress plate that you can ink or foil.  A die-cut set for a very real-looking fan, sentiments, and florals.  Alex has thought of everything to make your card-making adventure creative and fun.

Spring in Kyoto – Card 1

Start with a top folding A-2 sized top-folding white card base.  Attach to this a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of black cardstock.

Next, place a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Breeze cardstock into the embossing folder and emboss before attaching it to the card front.

Then, on white cardstock, foil of ink the Kokeshi Dolls and Cheery Blossoms.

PRO-TIP:  I knew I was going to copic color these images, so I inked them with Memento ink and it worked perfectly with the plates.

Color the images with Copic Markers:

Skin:  E50, E51, E21, Hair 100, highlights E44, Flowers:  RV10, RV21, RV13, Leaves:  YG03, Background of dress:  B01

Cut the colored images out with the coordinating dies.  Attach the cherry blossoms top left and bottom right.  Cut a black circle for the center of the card and attach the Kokeshi doll over that.  Use foam squares to add some dimension to the card.

Spring in Kyoto Card 2

Start with a top-folding white A2-sized card base and attach a black card front 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″.

Next, cut a piece of Seaside cardstock 4″ x 5-1/4″ and emboss with the Floral Fans 3D Embossing folder before attaching it to the card front.

Then, using the Spellbinders Essential Arches, create a black arch and a step down white arch.  Emboss the white piece with the same embossing folder before gluing them together and attaching them to the center front of the card.
