Products Used to create the Very Merry Christmas Cards:

Two handmade Christmas cards created using the positive and negative die-cut pieces from the Simon Says Stamp Tree Plate Die. One card features rows of stacked, multi-color striped trees die-cut from Peridot, Audrey Blue, Doll Pink, and Cotton Candy cardstock on a Cotton Candy card base, each topped with a small aqua gem. The second card uses the negative panel of colorful stripes with Cotton Candy tree shapes inlaid back into the openings to create a coordinating striped background. Both cards include the gold-foiled sentiment “Very Very Merry” and are styled with white berry sprigs and greenery on a textured white and aqua backdrop.

How to create the Very Merry Christmas Cards

1 – Create the Striped Panel

Time to make some festive paper candy!

Cut strips of your four chosen cardstock colors – we’re basically making our own holiday rainbow here.

Next, trim an adhesive sheet to  4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″, (A2 size). Peel back the protective layer just halfway – we’re easing into it – and start laying your cardstock strips from the bottom up, repeating the color pattern as you go.

Once your stripy masterpiece is complete, press it onto a white A2 panel by removing the rest of the adhesive backing.  Boom. instant happiness in cardstock form.

Two die-cut card panels created with the Simon Says Stamp Tree Plate Die, shown side-by-side to demonstrate the inlay technique. The left panel features Cotton Candy tree shapes die-cut from a striped background of Peridot, Audrey Blue, Doll Pink, and Cotton Candy cardstock. The right panel shows the reverse, where the colorful striped tree pieces are inlaid back into a Cotton Candy cardstock panel. Both panels demonstrate how cutting once creates two coordinating card fronts by swapping the positive and negative tree pieces.

2 – Die cut the Striped Panel

Now for the Tree-mendous fun!

Die cut your striped panel and a second panel of Cotton Candy cardstock (also A2 sized).

This will give you 9 colorful striped trees and 9 sweet pink trees – basically a twofer situation where nothing goes to waste and everything looks adorable.

Adhere each panel to a top-folding A2 white card base, then use the inlay technique to swap the trees – striped trees into the pink background and pink trees into the striped background.

It’s like musical chairs, but everyone wins.

Each tree is topped with a small aqua gem, and the sentiment “Very Very Merry” is gold heat-embossed across the center. The card is styled on an embossed white background with greenery and white berry accents.

3 – Gold Heat Emboss the Sentiment

Place your card panel in the Misti and choose one of the small sentiments from the Tree Plate Greetings set.  line it up just so between the bottom two rows of trees, and heat emboss it in shiny, magical gold.

We’re keeping the sentiment clean and simple here – the striped trees are already doing their sparkly holiday runway walk, and they definitely have main character energy.  But, we are adding one tiny Aqua gem to the top of each tree – just the right touch of twinkle.  Simple, Sweet, Perfection.

PRO-TIP  Dress your cards for the occasion!  pair these cuties with a matching Audrey Blue or Cotton Candy envelope to really seal the deal!  It’s like sending a coordinating holiday outfit straight through the mail – festive, fabulous, and fully on theme.
