Waffle Flower Birdie Friends Christmas Card

Hi cardmaking friends!  Today I’m sharing a Waffle Flower Birdie Friends Christmas Card.  A few months ago, the wonderful team at Waffle Flower reached out and asked if I’d like to play with some of their products – and of course I said “Yes, please!”  I absolutely love their designs.

Then the mail strike happened (LOL), and things got a little delayed.  So here I am, using July products to create Christmas Cards – but that’s perfectly fine!  There’s still plenty of time to craft your holiday cards, and I had such a blast making this one that I’m sure I’ll inspire you to create a few of your own.

Handmade Christmas card created with the Waffle Flower Birdie Friends dies and coordinating stencils. The design features four colorful, ink-blended birds—green, yellow, red, and blue—each wearing festive winter hats and scarves, perched on a branch against a pale mint background embossed with the Wood Grain Texture die. Strands of stitched Christmas lights arch playfully overhead, and the bold sentiment “Merriest Christmas” from the Warm Wishes stamp and matching piercing die set is centered above the birds. The card is displayed atop red and aqua cardstock with holiday greenery accents.

Step-by-Step Instructions to create the Waffle Flower Birdie Friends Christmas Card:

1 – Die cut the images

Start by die cutting the birds, beaks and branch from white cardstock.

Next, place the die-cut pieces on a grip mat and use the coordinating stencil set to blend color onto each one.

Inks Used:

Simon Says Stamp, Pawsitively Saturated ink – Watermelon, Cherry, Surf, Ocean, Limelicious, Pearfection, Lemonade, Honey, Fawn, Cappuccino and Nutmeg

Start with the lighter shade, then blend in the darker tone to build depth.  Finally, use a )) detailed blending brush to apply a tiny touch of Cappuccino ink for soft, natural shadows and dimension.

2 – Create the Card Base

Start with a white A2-sized card base cut to 5-1/1″ x 8-1/2″, score and fold at 4-1/4″.
Next, trim a piece of mint cardstock to 4″ x 5-1/4″ and emboss it using the Woodgrain Texture Die.  Center and adhere this textured panel tot he card base.

Then, use the two small decorative dies to die cut the streamers and lights from green, yellow, and red cardstock.  Arrange and Adhere them across the top and bottom edges of the card front for a festive finishing touch.

3 – Add the Sentiment and Embellish

Place the sentiment stamp in your Misti stamping tool and stamp it in black ink onto white cardstock.  Die cut it using the coordinating piercing matching die set, then attach it to the top center of the card using foam squares for a touch of dimension.

Next, use foam squares to secure the bird and branch assembly along the bottom of the card.

For a snowy, festive finish, apply Distress Grit Paste – Snowfall over the branch, then accent the snow and the fur trim on the Santa hats with Crystal Stickles for sparkle and texture.
