Hi stamping friends and welcome back. Today I am sharing a simple Water Coloring Video with you. I’m so excited for the Simon Says Stamp New Release Fresh Bloom, and especially since I just received a handful of these awesome new products so I could create cards to share with you. I’m starting that today with the Pretty Peonies Background and a simple water coloring video.
I love to watercolour and I could spend hours doing it, (especially when it’s snowing and – 30 something outside), haha, but I know some of you don’t like to watercolor, or sometimes we just don’t have time. Today’s card, is a quick and easy watercolor technique that doesn’t take long at all. You can make this card in 20 minutes or less – I promise.
Creating a watercolor background for a card is a beautiful way to enhance the depth of your card and highlight your art piece or as in today’s card, it becomes the focal point of your card.
Visit my Card Making Backgrounds page for more fabulous ideas for your card backgrounds.
My Secret Trick to create Fast Watercolor Cards:
My trick, is to white heat emboss the image onto colored card stock – thereby creating a colored background. Then all I have to do is add a bit of watercolor to highlight the special images and I’m done!
Cardmaking products used for todays Video:
I used my Altenew 36 pan watercolors for today’s simple water colouring video share, and just 4 colors, the three shades of pink and one green – I show you which ones in the video.
This “Pretty Peonies Background Stamp is one of many new products showcased in yesterday’s release – and it’s going to be popular, so order it soon before it goes on backorder.
it’s a whopping 5-1/2 x 5-1/2, Red Rubber Cling Stamp – and watch here for more projects created with it.
The sentiment was created with the Big Thanks Words Stamp Set also from Simon Says Stamp
You can create a thank you sentiment for almost any situation with this set. I heat embossed mine on Vellum and did an overlay on my card.
A tip about Heat Embossing on Vellum: – stamp the image in VersaMark Ink, cover it with white embossing powder, shake off the excess, and heat up your heat gun before you point it at the vellum. A hot gun will emboss the powder much quicker, with less chance of curling up the vellum.
I’m also sharing a FREE PDF download for you today so you can print and save it. It has a list of products, cutting instructions and bullet points on how to create the card.
