Hi card making friends and welcome back. It’s the first of the month and that means NEW CLUBS from Spellbinders – YEAH! So I have a Kaleidoscope Floral Slimline card to share with you today.
My boss at Spellbinders is Yana, and she lives in the Ukraine. I have been worrying for her and wondering how awful it must be living under those conditions. Here we sit in our warm little houses with our quiet evenings meanwhile, she and her husband spent a night in a cold dark wet bomb shelter listening to bombs going off. I cannot imagine. She emailed us today and shared that she is safe and well and we thank God for that. If you are into prayers, I’m sure they would appreciate some, and let’s all pray for peace to come quickly.
I think my mood had something to do with this card today haha. I wasn’t sure which way I was going but I knew I didn’t have the patience for a delicate defined die cutting day so instead, I did a messy smooshing technique. This is the Kaleidoscope Floral Slimline Die set and it’s the Large Die of the Month Club for March. It cuts beautifully and there are additional dies that create layers over the larger flowers. There are some pretty examples of the die cut layering cards on the website.

How to create the Kaleidoscope Floral Slimline Card:
Die cut all the pieces from watercolor paper. I used Canson, you don’t need really high quality watercolor paper for this technique.
Set up the Waffle Flower Water Media Mat and add a few drops each of Hero Arts Watercolors in Indigo Teal and Leaf. You could also use distress sprays if you don’t want to get your fingers really inky.
Leave some space between the watercolors so they don’t blend and spritz them with a bit of water.
Next, push parts of the die cut into the ink and SMOOSH it, dry it with a heat tool and then SMOOSH it again into the next color.
Repeat until you have the colors as dark as you like and you have covered the entire piece.
Finally, repeat with the layering flowers and leaves.
Glue the base down to a 4 x 9 hammermill white slimline card base. Glue the layered flowers together and add them as well.
Creating the Sentiment:
Use the Sentiments for Everyday glimmer set to foil the birthday greeting. Trim and add to the front of the card with foam squares
Embellish the flower centers with large gems and sprinkle some smaller ones around the card using the Aquamarine and Sapphire Color Essentials Gems from Spellbinders.

Oh my goodness, those flowers are stunning Sandi! Love the colors, beautiful design! 🙂
thank you Amy, it was a big change up for my style, but I had fun with it.
Beautiful card, Sandi! I, too, am praying like crazy for the people of Ukraine. I made as large a donation as I could yesterday to a certified charity helping those leaving Ukraine. I got IG messages about a card auction but could not find the directions. I’m usually OK with IG but occasionally I get lost or confused about where info is stored. Maybe you could throw that into your weekly “sales, etc” mailing so that people can participate in the auction.
Thanks for sharing this lovely creation.

Thank you Lori, and good idea, I’ll find the info today, and my mid week weekly sales newsletter will go out tomorrow hopefully, LOL
Beautiful card, must try this technique. We too are hoping for peace soon. My niece in law has family in the Ukraine, they are currently safe as well.
Thank you Lynne, and yes, let’s hope this ends soon.
As usual your card is lovely! I want to thank you for updating the information about Yana, as I too have been very worried for her and her family. When you communicate with her please let her know a prayer chain for her and her family that extends up and down the whole east coast was started the day she posted on her blog about her experiences. She has a lot of folks praying for them.
Thank you Mary, and Thank you for the prayers for Yana. They need them right now for sure
Incredibly beautiful! Gorgeous colors!
Thank you Natasha
I have prayed and thought of Yana so much. A San Antonio woman is in Ukraine, pregnant, and trying to get to Poland. I don’t know her, but her story on the news made me sad. I reached out to her and Yana on IG, but my prayers will continue. 😇 Sandi, your card is fabulous. It’s fantastic.
THank you Marisela. Many are not answering as there are just too many good wishes to respond to but know she reads them. There is a good chance they lost internet last night when Russia bombed the radio towers.
