Hey card makers – welcome back! Today I’ve got a quick and super fun project to share: the Good Fortune Horse Die Cut Card. This brand-new stamp and die set from Spellbinders launches today, and let me tell you….it’s an absolute blast to create with!
The horse die is wonderfully easy to assemble, which means the only real decision you have to make is what kind of background you want behind it. Patterned paper? Ink-blended magic? Something bold and bright or soft and subtle? This set plays nicely with everything – so feel free to experiment and see what happens (like I did, haha!).

Products Used for the Good Fortune Horse Die Cut Card:
- Good Fortune Horse Stamp and Die Set
- Distress Mix 3D embossing Folder from the Beautifully Imperfect Collection
- Distress Oxide Inks: Villainous Potion, Picked Raspberry, Ripe Persimmon and Wild Honey.

How to create the Good Fortune Horse Die Cut Card:
1 – Create the Card Base
Start with a top-folding A2-sized white card base. Layer a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of black cardstock on top for a crisp framed border.
Cut a second piece of white cardstock to 4″ x 5-1/4″. Using blending brushes, randomly blend Distress Oxide Inks over the entire panel until you have a soft, seamless transition of color.
Once the ink is completely dry, run the panel through your die-cutting machine with the Distress Mix 3D Embossing Folder to add amazing texture.
2 – Highlight the Embossing
Lightly drag a VersaMark ink pad over some of the raised areas of embossing. Sprinkle with white embossing powder, tap off the excess, and heat set.
After it cools, rub on a touch of gold to pick up even more of that beautiful texture – or gold heat emboss a few areas if you prefer a brighter metallic shine.
3 – Die cut the Horse
Choose a cardstock color that complements your background and die-cut the horse. Assemble the pieces and attach him to the card front with foam squares for added dimension and movement.
For my card, the horse is cut from Spellbinders Carrot Cardstock, with his mane, tail, and saddle die-cut from Mirror Gold for instant elegance.
4 – Add the Sentiment.
Gold heat-emboss the sentiment onto black cardstock, trim it out, and attach it to the upper portion of the card with foam squares to finish the design with a bold focal statement.

That’s it for me today! I’ve also created a downloadable PDF with all the instructions, so you can print it and tuck it into your crafty idea binder for future inspiration. Enjoy!
