I have something super fun and a little different to share with you today – Simon Says Stamp Holiday Felt Ornaments! With the DieCember® release, there are FIVE brand-new Stitching Die Sets designed to create these adorable ornaments and home-decor pieces.
I had just finished making Woodland Fergus and still had my felt explosion spread across one of my worktables, so naturally, I grabbed the new dies and kept on crafting.
These little cuties are quick, creative, and such a joy to put together – and they would make a wonderful holiday project to share with the littles in your life. You can make them out of paper, but the soft, plushy feel of felt is so much more fun! Whether you hang them on the tree or tuck them into your winter-tiered-tray display, they’re a charming addition to your seasonal home decor.

How to create the Simon Says Stamp Holiday Felt Ornaments:
All of today’s projects are created entirely from felt. The dies cut the pieces quickly and cleanly, and the extra embellishments are a perfect way to use up all those little scraps of felt you’ve been hoarding for years, LOL> I used Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Perfect Craft Glue to adhere the embellishments, and it worked beautifully.

Felt Stitched Snowman:
Cut out the Basic Snowman and stitch the two white body layers together, adding a loop of gold cord at the top if you’re turning him into a tree ornament or bag/parcel topper.
Next, add the embellishments: The small blue snowflake is cut using the Splendid Snowflakes die, (smallest one), and the pink dots on his scarf are simply the “eyes” die cut multiple times in pink instead of black – an easy and cute way to stretch your dies!

Felt Stitched Birdie:
Again, start by cutting all the pieces. I stitched the two beak pieces together with yellow thread first, then used binding clips to hold everything in place while I stitched the body layers together.
Next, glue the two wing pieces together and adhere them to the body, then add the eye.
For the finishing touch, I used the small ivy dies from the Birdies Winter Accessories die set to create the holly, and glued that on as well.

Felt Stitched Mitten:
Once again, die cut all the pieces and stitch the mitten layers together.
For the decoration, use the medium snowflake from the Splendid Snowflakes Die.
The pink circles along the cuff are created using the cheek circle die from the Snowman set – such a fun way to repurpose those little pieces!

Felt Stitched Penguin:
The stitching on this one is a bit hard to see since it’s black on black, but here’s what I did.
I cut the wings out twice so I could stitch two layers together giving them a nice sturdy feel. Using binder clips, I held everything in place while stitching the two black body pieces together, stitching the wings into the sides at the same time.
Next, glue the white front panel on and add his face. The scarf comes from the Snowman die set, and the snowflake embellishment is the small one from the Splendid Snowflakes.
I almost made tiny Christmas lights using the dies from the Birdies Winter Accessories Set – they would have looked adorable draped across his scarf – but I ran out of time. Maybe on the next penguin!

Felt Stitched Holly and Berries:
No extra embellishments on this one, but I did cut two of each piece and stitched the layers together before gluing them. This gives the ornament a bit more stability. I added stitching to the berries as well, though it’ not perfectly even – it was getting pretty dark, and after stitching five ornaments in one day, my poor eyes were crossing, haha!
That’s a wrap on today’s felt-filled fun! These stitched ornaments were such a joy to create, and I hope they inspire you to dive into your own pile of felt scraps and get crafty. Whether you hang them on the tree, add them to a tiered tray, or craft them with the littles in your life, they’re sure to bring a cheerful handmade touch to your holiday season. Happy stitching!
