New Video – Elevate Your Die Cuts #2 | Elegant Spring Egg Card with Dry Embossing and Ink Blending

Hi cardmaking friends – and welcome to Day One of the Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Moments Blog Hop.

Today, I’m sharing a brand-new video in my Elevate Your Die Cuts Series – Elevate Your Die Cuts #2.  In this episode, we’ll create an elegant spring egg card using dry embossing and ink blending.  Both techniques are simple to do, and they add beautiful texture, depth, and interest to your die-cut cards.

How to create the Elevate Your Die Cuts #2 | Elegant Spring Egg Card with Dry Embossing and Ink Blending Card:

I won’t go into great detail here since I walk you step-by-step through the entire process in the video, but here are a few additional measurements and supplies to help you recreate the card:

  • Card Base: White cardstock cut to 4-1/4″ x 11″ score and fold at 5-1/2″ to create a top-folding A2 card.
  • Card Front Panel: In the video. I used Audrey Blue, but for the card above, I used Seafoam.  Cut to  4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ embossed with the Tiny Flora Embossing Folder before attaching to the card base.  This adds depth and interest and helps to frame your artwork.
  • Vellum Layer: Cut vellum to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and die cut using the largest die from the Ribbon Loop Frames set.
  • Egg Panel: Cut Seafoam cardstock to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and die cut using the 5th largest die from the Basic Shapes – Nested Eggs Dies.
  • Sentiment: Die cut the He is Risen sentiment from scraps of white and vellum cardstock for a soft layered effect.
  • Flowers: Die cut the florals from two pieces of 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ Hammermill white cardstock.

Ink Colors for Flowers and Leaves:

  • Cabbage, Artichoke, Nutmeg, Watermelon and Honey

For the card shown above, I also used  Eucalyptus to softly blend around the edges of the background panel for added depth.

Mint green spring egg card featuring layered die-cut flowers in pink and yellow with green leaves arranged around an embossed oval egg. The egg and background are dry embossed with a delicate floral pattern, and a white “He is Risen” script sentiment is layered in the center. The card is photographed on a textured white background with greenery and a black fountain pen nearby.

Here is the card I created in the video:  I chose slightly deeper colors so the details would show up more clearly on camera.  The card front is Audrey blue, while the rest of the design and measurements remain the same as the first card.
