Hi cardmaking friends! I hope you’re enjoying a fabulous long weekend with family and friends. Today I’m sharing my final card from the Happy Camper release – the Simon Says Stamp Blossom Bursts Thank You Card. For this design, I played with Simon’s new red inks and paired them with the BLACKOUT TECHNIQUE’, using Ocean Ink, to create a bold and eye-catching color combination. I had so much fun with this one, and I hope it inspires you too.

How to create the Blossom Bursts Thank You Card:

Start by lightly spritzing a white 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ white card panel with water, then emboss it with the Blossom Bursts Embossing Folder.

TIP – Spritzing the cardstock first softens the fibers, helping to prevent cracking or tearing with deep embossing.

Next, on the debossed side, use small blending brushes to apply the three new ink colors – Rhubarb, Apple and Cranberry. I also use a blending brush to get into the deep crevices to ensure even coverage.

Adding the Blackout Technique:

To create the blackout technique, you simply drag a well-inked ink pad across and down your embossed panel. This fills in the background and recessed details with the ink color, creating a bold, dramatic effect.

Finally, for the sentiment, I inked a scrap of white cardstock with Rhubarb ink, then die-cut the greeting. It’s layered onto a crisp white shadow die cut and attached to the card front with foam squares for added dimension.

I was thinking with this color combo, this would also make an awesome 4th of July card.
