Simon Says Stamp Get Whale Soon Shaker Card

I love a good shaker card, don’t you?  So, today I created the Simon Says Stamp Get Whale Soon Shaker Card.  I have been wanting to color these little whales for days now, and I finally fit it into my schedule.   The adorable images only take a few minutes to color up, and I share the copic colors I used below.  The background is also super easy, then add a cello bag and some sequins, and Bam, you’re done.

Ok, it takes a tiny bit longer than that, but not much, haha.

How to create the Simon Says Stamp Get Whale Soon Shaker Card.

Start by stamping the images in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then coloring them with copic markers before cutting them out with the coordinating dies.

Copics used:
Whale:  B21, B23, B34 – tummy BG0000  Yellow Fish:  Y11, Y15, Y19   Coral:  R20, R21, R05  Shell:  R81, RV11, RV13, Rocks:  W0, W1, W3, W5  Green:  YG03, YG13

How to create the Ink Blended Background.

Start with a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of hammermill white cardstock.

Next, lightly ink blend the entire surface with Surf and Ocean Inks.  Then using the Sunshine Stencil, ink the rays darker.

Pro-TIP – you will need to extend the rays with two pieces of cardstock to get the rays to the bottom of the piece.

Then, still using the stencil, add a light amount of Sunbeam yellow ink near the top, so it looks like the sun is shining down through the water.

How to create the Shaker:

Using a cello bag, cut the cello about 1/2″ bigger all the way around than your card front.  Add two sided tape to the back, and remove the protect cover from 3 sides.

Lay the card front face down on the cello, and fold the edges to the back attaching to the tape.  Pour in the sequins.  I used Mix Icy and Perfect Day from Simon.  Remove the protective cover from the final strip of tape and seal the cello bag closed.  Trim the corners, and then use red line tape to attach the shaker to a A2 sized top folding white card base.

Finally, using white glue, attach the art pieces on the front.

Super cute and super fun to make.

  1. Soooo adorable! Great idea for another use for my sun rays stencil. Never would have thought about using it for a water background.

    Love the whale shaker card.
I do not know what a cello back is and do not see anything in the materials list that gives me a clue.

Could you please give me some more details so I can attempt a card like this
    Thanks Sharon
