Welcome back, cardmaking friends! Today I’m sharing another Speed Up Your Cardmaking idea with this Embossing Folder Background Card. If you saw yesterday’s post, 5 Tricks to Speed Up Your Cardmaking | Easter Lamb Card Idea, today’s project follows the same simple process with two easy changes.
Instead of using patterned paper for the background, I created texture with an embossing folder and colored the stamped image with Copic markers rather than using die cuts. two quick and effective ways to add interest and dimension while still keeping your cardmaking process fast and simple.
Let’s jump in!

Products Used for today’s Friend Like You Easy Embossing Folder Background Card:
- Simon Says Stamp Friend Like You stamp and die set
Modern Teardrops nesting dies from Simon Says Stamp - Leaf Spin 3D Embossing Folder

How to Create Today’s Speed Up Your Cardmaking | Embossing Folder Background Card
Cardstock Cuts (same as yesterday)
White Card Base:
4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″
Card Front:
Simon Says Stamp Audrey Cardstock: 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
Art Piece Layers:
White: 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
Green Apple: 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
Create the Card Base
For today’s design I kept the nature and forest theme from the stamped image by repeating the leaf pattern in the background with a coordinating embossing folder. Repeating shapes and textures is an easy way to create a cohesive card design.
I also repeated the colors from the Copic-colored image throughout the card: a soft blue card front paired with a green matte layer to frame the white art panel.
1 – Start by creating a top-folding A2-sized white card base.
2 – Next, place the Audrey Blue cardstock panel inside the Leaf Spin 3D Embossing Folder and emboss it. Attach the embossed panel to the front of the card base.
Using an embossing folder instead of patterned paper still adds texture and visual interest while keeping the cardmaking process quick and simple—perfect for speeding up your cardmaking.

CREATE THE ART PIECE AND FRAME
3 – Stamp the Friend Like You image onto the white panel using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, then color the scene with Copic Markers.
Copic Markers Used:
Chippy: E40, E41, E43, E44
Tree Stump: E31, E35, E37, E43
Bird: BG0000, B12, B24, B26
Beak: Y15
Cheeks and Ears: R20, R22
Leaves: YG03, YG23
4 – For today’s card I used the Modern Teardrops Nesting Die Set from Simon Says Stamp, replacing the A2 Arches used on yesterday’s card. This set is another great option for quick cardmaking, requiring just two die cuts to create a beautiful framed panel for your artwork.
5 – Embellishing: I chose to keep this card clean and simple. Using a blue blending brush, I lightly blended Seafoam ink into the sky area above the image before stamping the sentiment. After that, I decided the card didn’t need anything more.
Of course, you could easily add a few embellishments such as jute twine, sequins, or gems if you prefer a little extra sparkle. I was in a clean-and-simple mood today, so I left it as is!
I hope today’s Embossing Folder Background Card inspires you to try this simple technique the next time you want to speed up your cardmaking. By combining a textured embossed background with a Copic colored stamped image, you can create a beautiful handmade card quickly and easily.
