Spellbinders North Pole Friends

Hey card-making friends, welcome back!
Today, I’m sharing two festive holiday cards featuring the Spellbinders North Pole Friends die set, designed by the talented Simon Hurley.  I absolutely love Simon’s playful and whimsical style—his designs are always fun to create with and super easy to produce.

For this duo, I went with soft pastel tones for a fresh twist on traditional Christmas colors. Both cards feature dreamy, textured backgrounds using the July 2025 3D Embossing Folder of the Month – Starry Snowflakes. I’m completely smitten with this folder—it adds just the right touch of magic and perfectly highlights these adorable die-cut characters.

The card showcases two smiling die-cut snowmen in pastel winter accessories, holding a red-and-white striped North Pole signpost with dimensional banners reading "NORTH POLE," "TOY SHOP," and "LET IT SNOW." The background is a soft aqua blue, embossed with the Starry Snowflakes 3D folder from the July 2025 Spellbinders release, adding festive texture and depth. Accents of glitter and white ink splatters enhance the whimsical, frosty holiday look.

This release includes a total of four adorable die sets, and today I’m featuring two of them. At the time of writing, both sets are currently sold out—but don’t worry! Handmade Christmas card featuring two cheerful die-cut snowmen created with the Spellbinders North Pole Friends die set by Simon Hurley. The snowmen wear colorful winter accessories and stand beside a red-and-white striped North Pole signpost with layered banners that read "NORTH POLE," "TOY SHOP," and "LET IT SNOW." The background is embossed with the Starry Snowflakes 3D folder on soft aqua cardstock, adding a festive and textured backdrop. The card is layered on pink and teal mats and styled with evergreen sprigs for a cozy holiday presentation.

Spellbinders North Pole Friends – Card #1

Start by embossing a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of mint cardstock using the Starry Snowflakes Embossing Folder. Attach the embossed panel to a top-folding A2 white card base (4-1/4″ x 11″, scored and folded at 5-1/2″).

Next, lightly drag a white pigment ink pad across the raised areas to highlight the embossed design.

Die-cut all the elements for the signpost and snowmen, then ink blend them using coordinating pastel shades. Assemble the pieces with liquid glue.

Use foam squares to adhere the finished elements to the card front, adding dimension and depth.

To finish, splatter the entire card with white paint for a snowy effect, and add small white dots to the mittens for extra charm and texture.

Handmade Christmas card featuring a polar bear and cub created with the Spellbinders North Pole Friends die set by Simon Hurley. The bears are dressed in cozy winter accessories—scarves and a hat—in red and aqua. They stand beside a red-and-white striped North Pole signpost with dimensional banners that read "NORTH POLE" and "LET IT SNOW." The background is a soft mint green cardstock embossed with the Starry Snowflakes 3D embossing folder, adding frosty texture. The card is layered over aqua and red mats and styled with festive greenery and berries for a holiday touch.

Spellbinders North Pole Friends – Card #2

Start with a top-folding A2-sized white card base. Cut a piece of mint cardstock to 4″ x 5-1/4″ and emboss it using the Starry Snowflakes Embossing Folder.

Lightly drag a white pigment ink pad across the embossed panel to highlight the raised snowflake pattern.

Next, trim a piece of white cardstock to resemble a snowy hillside and adhere it to the bottom of the mint panel. Mount the entire panel onto the card front.

Die-cut all the elements for the polar bears and signpost, then assemble them using white liquid glue. Lightly shade the larger bear with Pumice Stone Distress Oxide Ink to add depth and definition.

Finish by attaching the die-cut pieces to the card with foam squares for added dimension. Embellish with Silver Mix Color Essential Gems for a touch of sparkle.
