Hey cardmaking friends, welcome back! Today, I’m showing my age a little—haha—because this card is a total throwback! I created a Vintage Woodstock Poster Card using two fabulous new products from the Simon Says Stamp Friend Like You release: the Ocean Horizon Die and Birdies Die Set.
The Ocean Horizon Die is brilliant—it cuts all the elements in one pass through your die-cutting machine. I brought it to life with rich, vibrant ink blending using a variety of Simon Says Stamp Inks. It’s a great way to explore the depth and versatility of Simon’s ink colors. Using medium-sized blending brushes to create irregular ink coverage gives the finished image a soft, suede-like appearance—it’s a very cool effect!
Fun fact: August 15th marks the 56th anniversary of the Woodstock Festival. I’m a little early with the celebration, but hey—I’m embracing my vintage roots!

PRODUCTS USED FOR THE VINTAGE WOODSTOCK POSTER CARD
Simon Says Stamp Ocean Horizon Die
Pawsitively Saturated Inks in: Honey, Zest, Cantaloupe, Grapefruit, Mandarin, Cherry, Watermelon, Taffy, Iris, Violet, Heather, Marine, Seafoam, Dew and Mist. ( all linked at the end of this post for you).

How to create the Simon Says Stamp Vintage Woodstock Poster Card:
Start by die-cutting the Ocean Horizon die from white cardstock. Carefully arrange all the pieces in order on a protected work surface to keep them organized.
Using small ink blending brushes, color each piece from top to bottom with the following Simon Says Stamp Ink shades: Honey, Zest, Cantaloupe, Grapefruit, Mandarin, Cherry, Watermelon, Taffy, Iris, Violet, Heather, Marine, Seafoam, Dew, and Mist.
Once the ink is completely dry, adhere the pieces to a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ white cardstock panel. Trim any excess if needed and add foam tape to the back for dimension.

Making the Guitar Handle:
Start with a piece of pale blue cardstock and cut a piece off, use scissors to angle the end slightly.
Next, cut a piece from a pale green cardstock, slightly wider than the blue piece, and angle each end. Tape them together.
Then, I used the cheeks and arms dies from the Spellbinders North Pole Friends to create the little tuners and glued them tot he back of the green end piece.
Finally, use foam squares to attach it to the bottom 1/3 of the card front. Trim off the overhang and mount the art piece to a top folding A2-sized white card base.

Put a Bird on It:
Use the Birdies dies, and cut him out of white cardstock with a yellow beak and legs. I know, he looks more like a pigeon than the peace dove in the poster, but hey, I had to work with what I had, haha.
UPDATE: – Lots of questions about the guitar, so I did a quick video on the entire card:

Here’s the original, iconic Woodstock Festival poster that inspired today’s card. I wanted to go to Woodstock so badly—but I was only 12, and of course, my mom said no—haha! Thanks for taking this trip down memory lane with me. Peace, Love and Music, and LONG LIVE ROCK N ROLL!
