Hi friends. Changing gears here today to Spellbinders Felt Bunny and Carrot post. As you probably know, Spellbinders now has a felt collection, and this is one of the new die sets from Nichol Spohr, called Felt Carrot Companion. It’s super cute, and I love making these felt dimensionals/stuffies to place in my tiered tray. I like to change it out seasonally, so this little gal is perfect for my spring/Easter theme.

Spellbinders has a great selection of wool felt to choose from, and I decided on pinks for my little bunny, I’ll probably circle back and make her a little blue bunny boyfriend later on, and I’m thinking that a garland of these carrots might be a very fun additional around the top tier of my tray. Maybe with little eggs or wooden beads in between.

How to create the Spellbinders Spring Felt Bunny and Carrot.
Using you Platinum 6 die cutting machine and the Felt Carrot Companion dies, die cut all the pieces from felt.
Next, cut some quilt batting using the back dies, and then use scissors to cut off the border with the holes so that it fits in between the front and back pieces, without getting in the way of the stitching lines.
Then, Using 3 strands of DMC cotton, start by creating the face on the head of the bunny and adding the pink inside the ears. I made her eyes with French knots, but you could also use beads. Her little nose is glued on with Bearly Art Glue, as is the bow.
For the body, sew on the tummy and then the heart
Once the body is stitched up, and the sides and top of the head are stitched, push the body up inside the bottom of the head and line up the stitch holes to close her, then glue the bow on top.
Stitching the Carrot:
I like to use darker threads on these types of pieces so I used #3371 to add the lines on the carrot before stitching it together.
Before closing the top, cut the greens, fold them in half and push them down inside the carrot and then stitch the carrot closed.
I also had a little piece of quilt batting inside the carrot to puff it up a bit.
